Pine Valley Christmas

Pine Valley Christmas

August 27, 2026 @ 9:30am

"Pine Valley Christmas"

With Wanda Somers

We will be making the Pine Valley Christmas Quilt from the pattern by

Maple Cottage Designs. This quilt is easy and is a fun quilt to make. The

pattern consists of 2 main blocks, the trees and the barn, with sashing and

borders. The trees are very pretty, but the red barn gives a very striking

accent to the quilt. The trees in my quilt are all made with scrappy fabrics

in different Christmas colors, but the colors you use are your choice.

Several of you commented that you like the 4-layer trees in my quilt better

than the 3-layer trees in the pattern, so we will be changing the trees to 4

layers. We will be making the large throw size which measures 60” x 71”

and cutting directions are given for that size. I think we will be able to get

most of the blocks made in class and I look forward to seeing you there.

Full Day Class:

"Contemporary Improv Piecing"

With Catherine Redford

Naperville, IL

Join Catherine as she brings her 20+ years of experience with creative improv piecing techniques to this technique-building workshop. You’ll piece improv-style blocks to create a series of small pieces you can use individually for placemats, wall art, pillows, or tote bags or combine for a throw size quilt.

Catherine expects everyone to come up with something different. Please bring a range of your favorite fabrics. She likes to work mainly with solids and just a few prints. Make sure you have contrast, light, medium and darks! If you are a more cautious stitcher, eight fat quarters will be plenty. Jelly rolls and pre-cuts are fun to work with. If you know you work quickly, bring more…
